SanDisk will release an MP3 player designed for 'tweens later this month. It's called the Sansa Shaker because kids will be able to change songs by giving the thick hour-glass-shaped portable player a shake. Controller bands also regulate movement between songs and volume control.
It will come in two shades, deep blue and pink, and will be priced nicely at $39.99. The player will have two headphone jacks to so friends can listen together, and built-in speakers so kids can listen without ear buds. There's also a 512MB SD flash memory card, which can hold more than 100 songs.
The player comes with a USB cable, a lanyard, five pre-loaded songs, and the requisite stickers to decorate and personalize it.
So, will kids go for it? Like phone carriers are learning, 'tweens don't want phones made for 'tweens; they want ones that look and act like the ones older kids use. With iPods dominating the MP3 market, the Sansa Shaker may be a hard sell to young song lovers. When we get a chance to test it at our house, I'll let you know if it's got the stuff to shake up the MP3 market among 'tweens.

I don't even understand why tweens need an MP3 player. The design looks pretty dumb though, like something you'd see as a promotional item from some kid's show or something. I doubt this is going to go over well, since most tweens want everything in the older market(Ipods, RAZRs, etc.), as it was mentioned. The biggest problem just really has to be the stupid design though.
i think it is cool !!!
I have the sansa clip, which is way better than this thing, which can hold a lot more songs, and looks a lot better than this. The sansa clip is something that could seriously take down the ipod shuffle, and the larger sansa models could start taking down apple's portable musical realm of supremacy.

I think it's stupid. My younger sister, who is ten right now, would never use this becaue of the very limied space it has, and the fact that the songs shuffle. This MP3 is for younger children, in my opinion, who's ages range from five to nine.
