Do your kids' schools need to get rid of old computers?

In its quest to become more green, Apple is offering free recycling of all CPUs, displays, and related peripherals made by any manufacturer to any accredited K-12 or higher education institution.

There are a few caveats: Schools need to sign up before June 30, and at least 25 computer systems need to be recycled, no less. Schools need to shrink-wrap the items and place them on one or more wooden shipping pallets at the arranged time and place of pick-up.

No Apple purchase is necessary to take part.

Apple says that all hard drives are "ground into confetti-sized pieces" to ensure your data is secure, all asset tags or other identifying markets are removed, and that 100 percent of the recycling is done within the United States.

Pass it on to administrators or teachers at your school. They can find more info on this Apple page.
