Nickelodeon has courted today's parents since they were toddlers watching shows on the children's network. Now, the network is aiming to be parents' social-networking destination for advice and online discussions with other parents about kids.
ParentsConnect joins the widening field of social networking sites for moms and dads. Still in its testing stage, the site has discussion areas for every stage of childhood and beyond, from preconception to after high school, The New York Times reports.
There are 21 host parents with profiles and blogs on the site to moderate various discussions. In a unique twist, parents who set up profiles on the site also can blog, in addition to participating in discussion threads.
The site, which is expected to officially launch in January, also has a local guide section, where parents can pop in their nearest city to find kid-friendly fun events to attend. It's powered by GoCityKids, another Nickelodeon web site, which is packed with family-friendly activities, kids' classes, and recreational facilities throughout U.S. cities.
So, are you finding your way to parents' sites like ParentsConnect? Are you looking for one to call home? Let us know your favorite parenting sites below, and if you think they help you be a better parent.
