Thinking about getting an iPod (or another iPod) but wish the prices would drop?

They will. Look for iPod prices "to be down a little bit" this quarter, Apple's Chief Financial Office Peter Oppenheimer said today.

If "a little bit" doesn't cut it, here's a look at some top-rated budget flash MP3 players on the market. CNET ranks the Creative MuVo TX FM MP3 player top of its budget list for its cool design, great sound and FM tuner. Varying in storage capacity from 128MB to 1GB, they sell for between $60 and $90.

Number two on this list is the Cowan iAudio G2, priced about $99, and praised for its "terrific audio quality and ease of use." Also ranked high is the iRiver T30, which retails for about $100 for the 512MB version and $150 for the 1GB player, the same price as a 1GB iPod nano. The iPod shuffle is the lowest-priced player, $69 or $99.

Ipods Are Crap!. I wouldnt buy a Ipod if my life depended on it. (well maybe than I would) But Ipods are a big ripoff. Your not getting the music that it was ment to be listen to. Ipods compress the music so it fits in a small medium. So what happens when you compress? You lose data, You just cut a 1/4 off the top of your song in the frequency range. What Im saying is its even less than FM quality. So all that money your spend on 99 cents a song. Your really getting 50 cents worth of the song. And they call that a (Lossey). Which is when you lose dynamics in the actual recording. Anything not compressed like a CD or tape or album would be a Lossless. So think about it! You are not getting what you pay for. For example! ever heard a streaming video play online. You can hear all the digitzed effects. Sounds like a scrambling whin in the back ground. Some I have heard worse. THATS COMPRESSION!!!!So dont buy MP3's. Stick with the CD's and you can listen to it the way it should be listened to.

There are plenty of great MP3 players out there OTHER THAN THE iPOD! People jump on board because they want to be like every one else to have an iPod and feel special. People continually fail to look at the competition. You can get more bang for your buck if you shop around.

if you are worried about losing quality in an ipod, bear in mind that itunes is one of a million sources of digital music. i have over 2000 items in my pod and only a few of the videos are from itunes. if you think cds are the greatest things out there, wait till your cds begin to skip. remember you can rip those cds to itunes also. like mr. rock concert said, stick to cds and you can listen to it the way it should be listened to. to that i say get an ipod, then you can listen, watch and store it whenever and whereever you want. to sempa, i say people dont jump on an ipod because they want to be like every body, people buy ipods because they are good. i have over a dozen movies on my ipod which i can connect to any tv, i have all my photos, both i pod viewable and stored like in a flash drive, and i have over 50 music videos none of which i got from itunes. all my documents are stored in my ipod.now i dont have any cds in my car cos it's all in my ipod. the ipod video is the best invention since the pc. although pricey then again, aint everything pricey?
