These are exciting times for the mobile phone industry who's been cramming everything but the kitchen sink into cell phones. Most mobiles today have integrated music players, video players, GPS, calorie counters, pedometers, and so many other great features, you have to wonder if there's any room left for new ones. As mobile phone users continue to add video and photos to their handhelds, the need is arising for ways to show them off to friends and family.
One upcoming technology we may see in mobile devices in the next few years is the addition of tiny DLP projectors that would enlarge a user's media content up on a wall. It makes sense since most gadgets these day have the capacity to hold entire movies, but who wants to see a two-hour movie on a 3-inch screen? Not me.
Texas Instruments is showing off their DLP pico-projector prototype to select media at this year's CTIA Wireless convention happening this week in Orlando, Florida. Let's hope those who get up close and personal with the pico-projector are able to give us more details like size resolution. Other than that, it's still too early to tell whether this pico-projector would eventually be sold as a stand-alone projector or an integrated feature in mobile phones. I guess either way will definitely give consumers another way to view and share their media content with friends on a bigger screen. I'm all for that.
What do you think? Is this a necessary feature?Â

I'd go for that. Except, I would need it in stand alone form.....just purchased a new Razr V3m from Sprint. Don't bother.......they block so many options from this phone with there Sprint Software make over, it's a wonder you can still make calls on it :) But is a great phone if you don't mind PAYING for almost EVERYTHING that used to be FREE-yes, they've found ways to BLOCK about everything. Keep your wallet close to the phone /// cause ya gonna need it!!
thats my IDEA!!!! I told my buddy B7 2 months ago about this. They stole it from me!
