What's the geekiest thing you've ever done? Whatever it is, it couldn't top what Seok Gyeong-Jae did on his wedding day. This South Korean engineer thought it would be a great idea to use a robot as a Master of Ceremony or MC instead of a real person. Tiro, who was designed by Seok, was the first robot to have been used to assist at a wedding ceremony.

As an MC, Tiro was programmed to speak in a sweet female voice to keep things on the romantic side–if that's even possible. The AFP says Tiro wasn't the only robot guest on the list, other robots were in attendance to guide guests and give performances. After the wedding, Tiro will be upgraded so it can be used for other duties. Perhaps, he'll be programmed to fill in as the housekeeper, gardener, or babysitter. Now that would be a great wedding gift.

Hanool Robotics, the company who created Tiro, said this is the first time a robot has been used as a master of ceremonies in a wedding, and probably one of the most expensive MCs, worth an estimated 200 million won (US $215,000).

Why not? I think it's great. A wedding everyone will remember, not just the bride and groom. Also a way to show off just how far robots have come.

The noise you may hear is the collective thrembling of MCs everywhere that they could be so easily replaced.

This is what happens when you spend all your childhood playing nintendo/ playstation.... Poor guy couldn't find a friend to MC his wedding.... which in Korean culture is done by groom's best friend. Did they check to see if bride is not blow up doll???
