LG's Lotus gets some competition from Cleo

You might recall my post on the LG Lotus earlier this year, which I thought was very feminine and extremely fashionable with its purple metallic cover and floral engravings (read our review). As Ben noted in his review, the square design resembles the old iPod nano and seems a bit gimmicky at first, but it kind of grows on you after a while.

The Lotus is small enough to fit nicely in your hand, and like a compact, it slips easily into your purse or jeans. Unfortunately the Lotus is on Sprint network, but if you're a Verizon customer a phone that looks a lot like the Lotus will launching on your network this winter.

Apparently, Samsung teamed up with Canadian designer Katya Revenko to further blur the lines between haute couture and high tech with a new phone called Cleo by Samsung. Like the Lotus, Cleo sports a very unique square shape, floral engravings, and is marketed to women, so it will be available in pink, gold, and blue.

As far as features go, Howard Chui says it will include a full QWERTY keyboard, 1.3 megapixel camera, microSD card slot, and a color LCD. The site has a few pictures of both the gold and pink models said to be packaged as a gift set with Cake brand cosmetics and a phone charm upon release.

The phone is set to debut in November, and anyone who buys one will have a chance to win a trip to Toronto to meet the designer and get fitted for a killer dress by none other than Katya Revenko herself. Pretty sweet deal.
