Sony's VAIO computers have always been a sleek bunch. To celebrate the VAIO's tenth anniversary, Sony is releasing 500 limited edition FJ Graphic Splash Edition VAIO notebooks. The designs are actually embedded permanently on the notebooks cover, and coated with two layers of durable finish. This means once you choose one of the five designs, you're stuck with it until you replace it.

The designs are not bad, except the Orange and Green Flowers designs may be a little too busy to be permanent. Pink Feathers, Blue Burst and Orange Burst are tolerable if you like some color on your laptop. They start at $1,130 and include a 14.1 WXGA LCD display, Wireless LAN,  Intel Pentium M Processor, 512 MB of RAM, 40 GB Hard Drive, and run on Windows XP Professional or XP Home Edition with SP2. You have the option of upgrading those features, but that will add to the total cost, of course. They're already available for pre-order, and will begin shipping August 28.

It's great to have options like these, but those flower designs are too radical. What do you think? Do you like the graphics on these notebooks?

They're okay, but not for me. You need a certain fashion sense to appreciate them, especially for any extended period. But if you like it... I say "Go for it"

Its cool, but unless your favorite color has stayed with you since childhood, it might be a little overkill. Then again, thats what happens when we paint our livingrooms right?
