At last! A High-Definition TiVo

How has TiVo changed your life? Before TiVo, I bet you used to buy VHS tapes to record your  favorite shows. Remember those days? Thanks to this awesome digital video recording technology, all we have to do now is log in to the TiVo web site to schedule a recording no matter where we are. And if you have a SlingBox, you can watch all your TiVo shows on your laptop.

My only gripe is having to watch all my non-HD recorded content on my high-definiton TV. For many who can afford a new TiVo, the wait is over. The Series 3 HD TiVo will be selling in stores mid-September for a whopping $799. How bad do you want high-definition recorded programming now?

Gizmodo reviewed the new DVR, and they say the price is worth it. According to Charlie White, the Series 3 TiVo lets you record two HD programs, while you watch a third show. The front of the Series 3 TiVo has an OLED display that tells you what program you are recording, and the remote control has changed into a sleeker device with backlit keys. Apparently, it doesn't support Tivo2Go, high-resolution photos, and it also cancels out your Video-On-Demand, and Program Guide service due to first-generation CableCards.

The TiVo Series 3 HD Digital Media Recorder can store up to 32 hours of high-definition programming on its 250GB hard drive, and is the first THX certified DVR ever produced.  So will you be getting one, or wait until the price goes down?

800 bucks is too pricey. I'm switching to my cable companies DVR for 9.95 per month which is high def without the sticker shock. I love Tivo, but not 800 bucks worth.

At least the cable co. box can do On Demand and Guide and without the huge price tag. The only thing I will miss is the ability to burn to DVD.
