The most challenging part of our job is sitting in front of a computer for an ungodly amount of time. Many of us sit at our desk for eight hours straight, then go home to stare at our monitors for the rest of the day. Our afternoon jogs have been replaced with visits to social networking sites, blog-reading, playing video games or watching videos on YouTube. It's recommended that you get up and stretch every 30 minutes to avoid too much strain on your back, shoulders and neck, which normally bear the brunt of our locked sitting positions. But worry not, Internet fans, I have searched around for exercises you can perform while sitting in your office chair.
Daily Yoga: Ellen walks you through a few exercises that will help you alleviate some of that stress you're putting on your body. Animated images show you how to perform her yoga-based routine to relieve Carpal Tunnel and Repetitive Stress injuries.
Office Fitness Clinic: This website has lots of ideas, programs, and advice on staying fit at the office. Who'd ever thought the copy machine room would be a great place to stretch?
Tactus Keyboard: Here you'll find some great hand exercises.
Spark People: Watch this short video from the Spark people demonstrating how to do a quick 15-minute desk workout. All you need is a chair and a wall.
Lifehack: Has sound advice on how to get a little exercise while on the clock. Tips such as walk at lunchtime, drink more water and set a timer sound like pretty good advice to me.
Do you have any tips to share? How do you deal with office stress?
