Install a Flat-Panel Display

If you've been staring at that small Plasma or LCD sitting on a TV stand because you can't quite figure out how to mount it on the wall, well you're in luck today. I found a good "How to install flat-panel displays" guide for Do-It-Yourselfers.

The guys over at The Home Theater Blog wrote a great step-by-step guide after helping a friend wall mount a Panasonic LCD.

Besides what's the point of having a sexy flat-panel display if you have it sitting on a TV stand?

To me the hardest part of doing this would be running the cables through the wall. It appears that fish-tape is the big secret behind pulling all those wires behind the drywall, and through the new wall cutout.

So if you're feeling a bit courageous, then read the guide and decide if this is something you can do with the help of a friend. Otherwise, you won't have a problem finding professional help.

Just keep in mind that doing so can be very pricey. Wal-Mart shows a $498 price tag to have a professional do this for you!

Great article. We just bought our first plasma screen tv this Monday. And "yes" it's still sitting on the stand but we'd love to prop it above the fireplace if those pesky wires/cables don't make it look tacky. ~Maya
