It's no wonder the average American home has more television sets than people. Televisions today take up less space, and are aesthetically a lot more eye pleasing than their predecessors. But contrary to popular belief, not everyone wants the biggest, baddest TV set they can afford. There are minimalists among us who prefer an inconspicuous flat-panel television set that blends in with the room's decor, as well as take up less living space.
Set the Mood
An upcoming feature I hope to see more of on flat-panel displays is ambient lighting. Some LCDs now include this lighting effect to reduce eyestrain, while creating the illusion of depth. Robin covered the Philips Ambilight flat-panel HDTV that casts a soft glow behind the screen, changing color and intensity based on the its programming. This TV set will set the mood for any party.
Sony is serious about helping you save some space. Their stylish all-in-one home theater system features a motorized audio unit, that slides up and down to reveal a 32-inch LCD flat-panel HDTV. The sexy TAV-L1 integrated system has surround-sound capabilities, a DVD/CD player, and a home stereo system with an FM/AM radio. The best part is the color-interchangeable speaker grill that will suit your every mood.
If you like to change things up, and own one of Sony's KDL-46XBR2 Bravia models, you're one of the lucky few who now has the option of changing their TV's border with color bezels that can be purchased separately. I wish more televisions had these options
Don't forget the Kid's Room
If your kid's room just doesn't have enough space for that old TV set anymore, check out Hanspree's models. Here you'll find LCD television sets that fit any child's room decor, ranging from Cinderella's Coach for the little princess of the house, to a baseball-shaped TV for the little league champion. Even I've been tempted to buy one. They're just so cool!
With so many televisions in the house, it's wise to consider models that are going to enhance your overall entertainment experience, as well as add a unique touch to your swanky pad. So don't settle for just any TV out there, find out which one will compliment your personal style.
