I started reading this article by NewsFactor on Yahoo! News regarding the new Sony DSC-G1 wireless digital camera, and I couldn't help but imagine the possibilities the future holds. First, let me tell you more about this digital camera. As a member of the Cyber-shot line, the DSC-G1 is slightly thicker than newer models, yet it does what no other Cybershot camera has been able to do. It can send photos wirelessly to a computer or up to four other digital cameras simultaneously as long as they are Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) capable. This 6-megapixel digital camera can store up to 7,500 VGA quality or 600 full-resolution photographs in its 2GB of built-in memory! That's insane.
Engadget has a whole photo gallery of the camera, one of them shows its high resolution 3.5-inch LCD touchscreen up close. That's as big as the touchscreen that will be on the upcoming iPhone. An Album Editor program lets you search through photos by color, face, or keywords, and it also allows you to upload your tunes so you can create your own slide-show. Going back to its wireless capability, I think it's great that more and more gadgets are moving in that direction keeping in mind the needs of those who like to instantly share photos on social networks, blogs, Flickr stream, or whatever they use these days. I hope all digital cameras eventually include Wi-Fi capabilities that allow you to connect to your blog from any hotspot on the road, instead of having to be near your computer at all times. The DSC-G1 is great if you have a laptop, but desktop users won't be too thrilled. This camera is available for pre-order on Sony Style, with a pricetag of $599, scheduled to arrive in stores next month.

Im excited. i have an older version of cybershot and it's my fav. camera. i cant wait for this one. the wireless sounds awesome!!
For now the wireless feature is highly over rated. Storing and images on the 2 GB built in memory and sharing them on the large high 3.5 inch resolution 921K dot screen is the best feature. The camera also takes excellent pictures.

Looks like the wave of the future....I'm still moire concerned with a camera's photographic capabilities though.
