Macworld 2007 Rumor Roundup

Next Tuesday, the tech world as we know it will be slogging around the Las Vegas Convention Center with terribly sore feet...with the exception of a few hardcore Mac fans, who'll be cozy in San Francisco as Steve Jobs trots out the latest gizmos from Apple at Macworld.

Macworld 2007 is terribly inconvenient in its timing, but that doesn't stop us from writing about it. Last time Jobs did his song and dance, I was pretty spot-on with my predictions. This time, Gizmodo has done a far more thorough job at rumor patrol, putting its own odds down on a whole host of potential, upcoming Apple goodies.

You can see Gizmodo's in-depth take on what may come to pass here.

What will really come to pass? I think Gizmodo's picks are pretty spot-on. Jobs will undoubtedly roll out the new iLife stuff in excruciating detail. I am more bullish that the iPhone (or whatever they call it) will be announced next week and less convinced that a touchscreen iPod will arrive.

Updated Mac notebooks with quad-core CPUs? I'm torn. Apple knows its products are already heftily priced, and sticking a $1,000 CPU in isn't going to help matters. Neither will Blu-ray, which I don't think exists in the notebook format yet. (I also think Jobs is smart enough to realize that no one actually wants Blu-ray in their Mac, either.)

What do you think Apple's going public with on Tuesday? Regardless of what it is, watch for an updated post shortly after Jobs' keynote speech on Tuesday morning.
