Nice little find that turned up online today: CNet's database of talk time tests based on its battery life benchmarks of, well, pretty much every handset on the market. Check them out here.
Not too much to editorialize on this one. I've spot checked CNet's scores against my own (I do a full battery rundown on every phone I review) and they seem very much in line. Remember that battery life will differ based on signal strength, the health of your battery, your location, and how you use your phone in general (the more the screen is on, the less talk time you'll have). So take any battery life benchmark as a "best case" and not a fast rule.
Just skimming the charts it's amazing to see how pathetic the battery life is on some handsets: Just two hours or less in a number of cases. That really won't get you very far.
Also of note, don't miss CNet's radiation level charts for cell phones, as well, and see how your phone measures up to excessive energy output. (More commentary on that story here...)

The CNET listings are a bit out of date. Few of the phones listed are still available at Sprint.
