A reader asks: I'm interested in buying a cell phone that can play MP3s, but which one is the best?
Well reader, how about I give you a bunch of 'em, separated out for each of the four big national carriers? This way you won't have to break your contract to pick up an MP3-playing phone. (All prices are from the carriers, with contract. Unlocked or contract-free phones will be more expensive.)
Cingular - The Sony Ericsson W810i has cleaned up most of the faults of the earlier "Walkman phones," and at $150 it's my top music-playing pick for Cingular. The Motorola SLVR L7 (also $150) is a good second choice, as its iTunes software is easier to use and the phone is a bit slimmer and lighter. However, it's hampered by an annoying limit of 100 songs.
Verizon Wireless - Two LGs are your best bet here: The phone known as "The V" (aka VX9800) ($200), which is a large clamshell handset that opens up to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard and large speakers, is my favorite music phone on Verizon. After that you're stuck with the LG Chocolate ($150), which my earlier coverage has shown has legions of fans but is half-baked, navigationally speaking.
Sprint - Hands down I like the LG Fusic ($150, pictured) best, a very sophisticated clamshell phone that even has Sprint TV incorporated. If you want to spend a bit less, the Samsung A900M ($100) is more RAZR-like but has thoughtful media controls that work fairly well, also.
T-Mobile - At $300, getting the T-Mobile Sidekick 3 just to play MP3s is probably not financially smart, but it's the best overall handset T-Mobile has going. After that, the T-Mobile SDA ($150) is also worth a look, but other carriers have more capable music phones.

For Sprint, the Samsung A900M is thumbs down. The coverage reception is spotty, the battery usage time is less than a day, and memory is not expandable. Instead try the Samsung A920, good reception, 2-3 day battery and expandle Micro SD card
I purchased an unlocked Nokia N91 in the early spring and I'm sorry but looking over the current music phones available even now, they just don't hold a candle to it as a Muxic cell phone. Change "Best" to best provided by the carriers. Add Smartmovie streaming so very fast of the hard drive and Shure E500's and you have reached mobile nirvanna.
If your looking for a phone without a contract I suggest the Nokia 6265 from Metro PCS. It has a 2 megapixel camera, bluetooth, MP3, expandable memory and good looks. It's about $270 but with unlimited minutes and unlimited text for just $45 a month its a good deal. Definetly happy with this phone.
I got the cingular sonyericson w810i the day it came out the fone is good on the plus side it supports a crazy 2megapixle camera along with a strong flash on the down side the speakers on the phone are not loud enough but good one major thing that made me return the phone was the fact that the key pad was very very small so unless you have small thumbs this maybe a ur reasone to forget about the phone another plus about the phone is that it uses a Memory Stick Dou so u could store up to 2gs of music over all i give this fone a 7 out of 10 i am currently useing the cingular 8125 htc wizard this phone is just pimpin i give it a 9 out of 10 CALL ME THE CELL WIZ

One area I think this article ignores for Verizon is the 8300 which has been reviewed to be a better all over phone than the Chocolate in a lot of cases. Just as good a sound if not better and easier to navigate plus better reception.
