Palm Treo 755p on the Horizon?

The Palm rumor mill is humming once again as leaked pictures of the purported Treo 755p have begun spreading on the Web. Unearthed by the sleuths at Engadget Mobile, the new EV-DO phone looks to be the latest in a line of Palm OS—or rather, Garnet OS—Treos, this time with an internal antenna replacing the annoying stub on the old 700p.

From what I can gather from the pictures, the 755p looks more or less like the GSM 680 Treo on AT&T/Cingular—and that includes, unfortunately, the 680's fairly substantial girth, as well as a version of the Garnet OS that looks virtually unchanged from last year's 700p. According to Engadget's tipsters, the 755p will arrive with a 1.3-megapixel camera (again, nothing new), while a Gizmodo informant has pictures of a maroon flavor of the phone, which also betrays a new IM app (a welcome addition, if it's true). Interesting, but so far, I'm not seeing any details that would make me rush out and replace my trusty 700p. Word is that the 755p could be launching on Sprint in the next few months.

So far I am trying to keep up with my Treo 700p. If the issue is only that of Internal Antenna then I too will not run after it. There does not appear to be a great advantage. Is that enough to hook me? I think not. I will hold on to my T "p". Great information on the cutting edge. Thanks a bunch. Keep me posted on any further developments. Donovan, Indiana.

I got the 680 in december 06,other than the occasional freezing of the screen which is easy enough to fix by removing the battery i like it very much. I bought it unlocked from palm online,my only complaint is Palms US customer service. It's a joke..... It's bad enough to make me buy another phone,I've had to on a cpl.instances seek help out of Palm Canada. You'll find them quick too pick up the line too sell their products, but try getting thru to service when you have a tech issue....... GOOD LUCK !!!!! Telly Davis NYC
