After months of denying there was anything unusual about the high number of Xbox 360 hardware failures, Microsoft has finally admitted that too many 360s are displaying the dreading "red ring of death," and it's coughing up $1 billion to extend the Xbox's warranty. It's about time.

Victim of the 3 RROD myself. I am appalled at the poor quality control M$ had done with this console. YES, they did fix mine (actually they give you a factory refurbished console in place of)4 weeks later. The sad part is they were well aware of the issues. Finally, they now extended their warranty to 3 years beyond that you have to buy an extended warranty for $30/year. M$ did do right with XBOX LIVE, especially with the Marketplace where you can download games/demos, movies, music and TV shows. It's well worth the $50/year fee.
