Prices for Blu-ray players are finally starting to slide, although they've got a ways to go before hitting HD DVD's rock-bottom $99 mark.

I am still happy as can be with the ($229) 1080p upconverting OPPO DV-981HD I bought last January to go with my 42" Panasonic Plasma. At this rate, it will be a long time before I see any need to jump on either the Blu-ray or HD bandwagon.
I just scored a Philips upconvert DVD player w/HDMI for $45 at Wal-Mart. No - I do not have a high end home theater, I just have a nice 50" DLP, hooked to a Sony Home Theater in a box. Now I have a nice DVD player that automatically upconverts to 1080i. Call me when a hybrid HD-DVD/Blu-Ray/Upconvert DVD player is in the $150 ballpark ... And, by the way, WalMart is selling Toshiba $199 HD-DVD players, but I crack up everytime I see that, because there is not ONE SINGLE HD-DVD disk in the store. Blu-Rays aplenty, but not one HD-DVD.
Hey for all you gamers out there I just bought a PS3. it's a great console and IT PLAYS BLU-RAY MOVIES! best of both worlds.
