People must be getting sick of plain-old-iPod-speakers (given that there are so many of them). First, the Lightcast, now the i-Fish, which was written up in the venerable New York Times yesterday. Of the two, I much prefer the i-Fish, a more sophisticated cousin of last year's i-Dog.
I had so much fun with theĀ i-Dog, a robotic-dog-cum-iPod-speaker with multi-colored lights that makes cool electro sounds and moves its tail and head to the beat. i-Fish is the next step in robo-speaker evolution: The $40 peripheral wags its tail smoothly (more "joints" than the i-Dog, it looks like), spins around, and is more responsive to touch.
The imported versions I've played around with also sound better than the i-Dog (no surprise, since it's a little bigger). I first became obsessed with this thing after seeing the world's silliest-yet-strangely-alluring video by the Japan-based TechToys podcast. The clip features an annoyingly-catchy tune, "Summertime," by Brother Love. The song, the video, the fish, and the dog all add up to a bunch of guilty-pleasures for me!
How 'bout it-would you buy this thing?

I just read a book from Dan Brown, Deception Point, that had your last name in it! What a coincidence!
