Vizio has just turned the big-screen TV market on its head with the announcement of a 60-inch plasma retailing at $3,000. Take a look at the video to see for yourself, but I can tell you that the image was bright and clear, the design specs on the monitor aesthetically pleasing, and IT'S A 60-INCH PLASMA FOR $3,000!!!
High-def standards these days top out at 1080p, and this monitor is 1080i, which means that it doesn't have the absolute highest resolution out there, but to the naked eye, it looked great. If you want more information on the 1080p/1080i difference (it's not that significant in real-world use) check out this post.

If it sounds too good to be true then it probably is. Watch out... visio doesn't have the best reputation. From personal experience, I bought a 50" plasma that was great for about 18 months then it popped, fizzled... and was done. Visio's warranty was for one year and would not even consider working with me for a replacement. Back when I bought it, the 50" was $2,600 and you would think spending that kind of money on a plasma television, it would last longer than 14 months. I may have thought this was a rare occurance if the exact same thing hadn't happened to my brother on his Visio... pop... fizzle... done. The only difference, his popped after only 14 months. When I documented my experience on cnet.com, I found out that the pop/fizzle experience was actually fairly common. So buyer beware... we replaced our Visio with a Panasonic and it has been wonderful.
nope
that's still pretty friggen expensive!
TO OLD PLASMA IS JUNK I GOT ONE AND IT GETS SO HOT IT HEATS THE ROOM ITS A 42" GET A LED THEY LAST LONGER AND DONT GET HOT CHECK THEM OUT ON THE WEB I THINK THERE TOP OF THE LINE ....ILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER PLASMA....
LCD's have caught up with Plasmas as far as pictures go. But you need to pay a LOT more for an equivalent LCD TV. Anyways, is it just me, or did that 60 inch plasma in the video look more like a 40 inch? Maybe that woman was just REALLY big.
First of all the Viziio TV is not even a name brand, so why would anyone want something " no matter how cheap" who is going to service it? It is not repairable, a throwaway. Believe me, It is not your dream, buy a name brand and you will be glad you did.
1080P vs 1080i not significant! Hogwash. There is a huge difference.
I can get a 54 inch Panasonic plasma with 1080p at Sam's Club for $1297. 3 grand for this!! No thanks.
moo
so good
still watching my 32" sanyo w/ a BIG FAT picture tube. I payed $239.00 for it about 7 yrs ago and plan to watch it until it dies, I die, it blows-up, or someone steals it! I have watched most of my friends buy plasma tv's and before the 2yr mark they sit outside waiting for the trash collector. Save A step, send the plasma's directly to the dump!
Yet you can go to Best Buy and get a 65" Panasonic Plasma S1 for $2800 and its 1080p. Ever wonder why Best Buy never buys Vizio? They suck.
heck the 65" is $2700 now! So much better.. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Panasonic+-+VIERA+/+65%22+Class+/+1080p+/+600Hz+/+Plasma+HDTV/9431242.p?id=1218104302511&skuId=9431242&st=panasonic%20s1&cp=1&lp=7
Bought our 50'' Vizio plasma 1080p at Sam's 2 yrs ago for $1200, spent another $100 on the 5 year protection plan and haven't had any trouble. It does heat up a bit, but all in all we are happy with it.
Plasma TVs are old technology now...We have a Vizio LCD 32" & 42" and they are great...

Plasmas don't generally have a refresh rate because they are constant unlike LCD. Both have Pixel Responce times which is much different. CRTs refresh. And that was like the 90's man get with the times! Pixelk responce times should be low not higher. The lower the better. Plasmas are blacker. They are the Home Theater preference for those that can afford real home theaters not box crap that comes with a free toaster. Go check out a Home Theater magazine and read those reviews from the pros that know. LCD's have a horrible washout and are meant still for pictures of grandma. Good Luck folks !! I own both. but ones in my bathroom.
