If you've got a TiVo (even if you don't but friends and family do) and home videos you want to share, you can now try a new feature offered by TiVo in partnership with One True Media, a web site that allows you to make slide shows and video montages with video clips and photos, set to music.
One of TiVo's newest offerings, the One True Media connection allows you to share home videos with friends and family on a special One True Media TiVo channel that easily uploads montages from the video web site. Want to check it out? One True Media is offering a free trial to customers through April 30. You can send up to five video creations to the TiVo channel in the period. One True Media has a free membership and a premium membership ($3.99 a month/$39.99 a year) that offers more features, storage, and sharing capacity.
Here's how home video sharing on TiVo works:
• Create a video montage with some video clips and photos on One True Media. They have made it as simple as it gets.
• Create a personal TiVo channel code using a simple tool on the One True Media web site.
• Find the friends and family who have a Series 2 or Series 3 TiVo box. They need to go to the Home Movies by One True Media heading inside the Music, Photos, Products & More folder on the TiVo.
• To view your channel, they need to enter your channel code, which they'll get in an email you send them.
• To watch your home videos, they will go to the Now Playing list and open Home Movies by One True Media.
If anyone gives this a spin in the next month, let us know how it goes. Seems like a great way to easily share home videos—for TiVo owners, at least.
