Still working on taxes? We are. So that's why my antenna is still up for anything that will make the last-minute itemizing go more smoothly.
With that in mind, here's a handy tool to retrace miles driven on your car for business and arrive at the calculated tax deduction for each trip: It's called the BizMile Tracker.
The 2006 tracker is free to use. If you like it and want to use it to track business miles in the year 2007, it'll cost $29.95 to be organized in this one area of your finances. So it's a good idea to test out your miles from 2006 to see if you need this tool. It's easy to sign up for the free trial. All you need to give is your email address, and a password is provided.
It's simple to use, provided you can easily find the addresses of where you have traveled by car on business. You plug in your home address and then the other starting and ending points of trips. To choose the date of a specific trip, a calendar pops up for you to plug it in quickly. You choose the date, starting address, ending address, and the tracker fills in the mileage and the tax deduction right next to it. Helpful.
