I've been missing one key component in my laptop setup to make working more comfortable on my neck, shoulders, and back. I've got a Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 3000 keyboard and mouse I use when I park at my desk. But I've been in need of a stand to get the laptop up and at eye level, while allowing air to circulate and keep it running cooler.
Since reading Chris Null's review of the Logitech Alto laptop stand, I've had it on my wish list (sad but true), but the price— $100—has held me back. It also comes with an integrated keyboard, which I don't need. But there's good news from Logitech, which is releasing two other stands beginning this summer at two nice price points.
The Logitech Alto Express is a simply designed piece of translucent plastic with a rubber-edged front and back to prevent it from sliding around a desktop. At $30, it's nicely priced to send off with laptop-toting college kids to help reduce four years of laptop hunch. It will be available in July.
The Logitech Alto Connect is an X-shaped stand that comes with four USB hubs, one in the front for easy access. That's a big selling point for me, and I'm willing to pay $80 to ease some neck and back strain. It's time. It's expected to be available in the U.S. in September, just in time for a back-to-school purchase for mom.
