Here's a humorous look at money-spending tips by The Consumerist, which turns tried-and-true budgeting tips on their head. The effect is more powerful than reading through the advice we all know well but don't always follow.

I like #4: "Go Grocery Shopping When You're Hungry, With No List."

"Don't plan your meals. Always eat 'whatever you feel like.' Go shopping you're really hungry and make sure to buying everything that looks yummy! Mmmm! Lobster! Another good tip is to go shopping on 'sample day' and buying everything you try..."

Or "Let Yourself Go" (#9), since you'll spend more money trying to lose weight and on medical bills if you get sick. And "Run Up Lots of Credit Card Debt" (#8) because you can pay it off someday when you make more money. Just in time for back to school shopping, #10 tells us to buy our children whatever they want. "If children don't get everything they want, it makes them bad at math. True story."

The converse points are well taken.
