If you've been wanting to try your hand at editing photos and adding effects but are not in a rush to load expensive editing software on your computer, Mashable has list of good free online photo editing tools to try.
The social networking news blog picks six of the best photo editors. Each has the basic tools—rotate, resize, and crop—as well as enhancements including brightness and contrast adjustments and red-eye removal.
XMG Image is a top pick because it has all the features needed to edit a photo, along with image hosting, tagging, and sharing options.
Phixr is most like Photoshop Elements, Mashable says, and it gives you the choice of importing photos from your PC, Flickr, Fotopic, Photobucket, Picasa, Smugmug, and Webshots. You can save images as JPG, PNG, PDF and GIF files.
Pixer.us has some interesting special effects, such as an oil painting effect.
Kids may like Graphita, which has fun doodle and caption tools.
Check out the full list and links on Mashable and edit some photos this weekend. And, as always, if you've got a favorite image editing tool, please share.
