By now, most of us know that if we want to track our kids via GPS technology on cell phones, we can. Ben Patterson has a helpful roundup of the GPS phone services available, from Disney to Loopt to TeleNav.
But in Ireland, parents are also offered a similar service through their television service providers. DigiSoft.tv provides parents with IPTV (Internet protocol TV) the opportunity to locate kids through mobile phones and see where they are on their TV screens. You don't even need to get up off the couch to find your cell phone to find out where the kids are!
As Ben writes, a Jupiter Research study found that 42 percent of parents are interested in services that can track their kids using GPS. But I don't know any parents who are using GPS tracking yet. Truthfully, I don't think it will work. It says from the start, 'I don't trust you.' And it's too easily disabled or circumvented by smart, enterprising kids.
Where do parents and kids stand on using GPS to keep tabs on teens?

does anyone trust there children these days???
i think this idea is kind of ridiculous because there are parents out there who are over protective and yend to over react. let's hope this idea doesnt come over here
I would be very interested in a tracking device for my kids... not to be watching their movements but only to quickly find a child who had been kidnapped. I don't mistrust my kids, just all you pathetic freaks out there. That would be the ultimate purpose of GPS for kids. I would want something more secure than a phone though. That would be too easily discarded by you freaks. A company that brings me a great product like that would get my money.
Whenever there's technology, some people will find ways to abuse it. You know, this has me thinking... In this country, are you without any rights until you're 18? If the government makes everyone wear a tracker, you bet there'll be an uproar. The tracking technology to use on kids is an invasion of their privacy, civil liberty, and simply puts it as 'I don't trust you'. So much for a mutual relationships, and parents are complaining? As parents, you're only supposed to be nosy and prying only if you suspect your kid is doing something dangerous. Still, this is nowhere as bad as the Verichips, where they implant a microchip INTO someone to carry data or track them. No one's getting that chip near me or my kid.
Sony's Playstation 3 has received a huge amount of hype with its over-the-top high definition graphi ...
