CircleUp, one of my favorite web tools this year, has a new feature that makes it even easier to send out a question to a large group and receive answers in an organized, streamlined way. Microsoft Outlook users can now download a CircleUp toolbar that makes it easy to create groups, or circles, directly from your Outlook address book and send an email to everyone listed so they can answer a question or make plans for a group activity.
The feature allows you to quickly grab contacts from an Outlook address book or AIM and Yahoo! instant messaging programs to create a new CircleUp group.
I like CircleUp because it eliminates the email deluge that pours into the inbox when you're trying to make plans with a group. The Outlook toolbar has the added bonus of updating you on responses on Outlook. In addition, you can keep track of questions and answers through one "Daily Result" email, or as they come in through RSS feeds.
Early adopters of CircleUp, not surprisingly, have been parents and coaches who are organizing PTO and other kid-related events. CircleUp's founders believe the Outlook toolbar will expand the web app even more widely to businesses, small and large.
If you've got a group event to organize, check CircleUp out. If you already have, let us know what you think.
