SanDisk Introduces Small, Clip-on MP3 Player

SanDisk has introduced a small, clip-on MP3 player to compete with the Apple iPod Shuffle. And it will compete on price as well as features. It has more, including an OLED screen with room for four lines, an FM tuner, a microphone, and recorder.
The 1GB player is $40, and there's a 2GB clip for $60, compared with the 1GB Shuffle at $80.
While the Sansa Clip definitely competes on pricing, sound quality and ease of use will be the true test. The 2GB clip comes in four colors: black, red, hot pink, and ice blue. It plays MP3, WAV, WMA and Audible (audio books) formats, and supports music download services including Rhapsody To Go, Napster, and eMusic.
I'll be trying it out when a test unit comes my way, so I'll let you know if it's a good fit for kids (and moms) this holiday season.

This definitely seems like a good deal, but I wonder how it will be for harsher tasks. I've owned samsung MP3 players in the past and have had problems with the connections getting messed up. Luckily my friends can sodder but I don't thing everyone has that luxery. I now own an Ipod nano and find it to be durable enough to withstand working conditions, extreme heat, and more abuse since it lacks the screen to crack. However this new MP3 player could lack the problems of the old and be just as durable these are just things I would watch for. Finally before recomending this to any student if it has a record feature remember that many schools, in Michigan anyways, are starting policies banning recording devices and the junior high and high school levels. Nothing is worse than having the person you pay tax dollars too take away something you paid hard earned money for. Looking foreward to the full review.

My Sandisk's screen just broke so I want a mp3 that is durable. I think this is the one. So when does it come out?

I hope you will include in your testing and comments on this player whether or not it includes a "resume" feature. I have avoided Sansa players in the past because they have lacked this essential feature when listening to podcasts. When I power off the player in the middle of a podcast, I want it to resume to the place where it was when I shut it off, not at the beginning of the track. The one Sansa player I own, and several others that I have looked at, annoyingly did not "resume." Also, please comment on how the player resumes after the battery is changed/recharged. The above should be of interest to all of your readers who listen to podcasts. Thanks!
