Right about now, lots of college students are facing sticker shock at college bookstores as they settle in to college life and prepare for the start of classes.
I pointed to several discount book sale and trading web sites in this post, but the New York Times' Michelle Slatalla adds more to the list in a humorous, mom-of-a-college-freshman kind of way. As usual, it's a fun read, so check it out. But here are some of the sites she mentions. If you've got college kids, send them the links.
Maketextbooksaffordable.com is first on her list to check out because it is run by a coalition of student public interest research groups.
Also worth on a look:
BookFinder.com - Search on a book title and this site will compare availability, prices, and shipping costs of books from hundreds of thousands of booksellers worldwide.
ValoreBooks
A1Books.com
AbeBooks.com
Biblio.com
Check 'em out, then let us know what book sites have done you right.

A new and innovative discount site that I recently discovered is BookRenter.com, a company that RENTS textbooks so you don't have to buy them. I rented my books from BookRenter.com for this fall term and saved 50% off and now don't have to worry about the hassle of selling back my books. The shipping was quick and I received my books in time for the start of classes. I definitely recommend this site to all college students looking to save money- which I'm sure no one is opposed to doing!
Buying textbooks online is a great way to find cheap textbook prices but be careful of the shipping method. Media Mail is cheap but can take up to 4 weeks if the the textbook is coming cross country! I like the price comparison tool at www.Cheap-Textbooks.com
visit www.dealjuggler.com they have the best textbook deals. They have best textbook prices, buy used textbooks, valorebooks coupon codes, textbooksrus coupon codes, textbookrus coupon codes, amazon books coupons, alibris coupon codes, and more. Buy international version books to save money. They have a price comparison tool and they automatically apply coupon codes. Dealjuggler.com also has best shopping deals, best laptop deals, best computer deals, best cellphone deals, and more. Daily deals are updated everyday.
With the economy what it is I am glad I have been using computers and the internet for sometime. My daughter needed some textbooks that were so outragously priced I decided to search online to see what I could find. I found this site called "whereismybook.com", she said the price was the same as what she had seen for used books. We got her books and got a coupon for free shipping off the next order, (which will be in a couple of weeks) It came on a mass printed coupon so the code should work for anyone. Pass the information on to anyone who may be able to use this, we are all in this together. Coupon code: BGSHIP
