Pillow and PC Join to Combat Snoring

Now, this I'd like to see in action: A tech solution to snoring.

A German university professor has invented a pillow that is hooked up to a small computer that analyzes breathing noises. When a snore is detected, "the computer then reduces or enlarges air compartments within the pillow to facilitate nasal airflow to minimize snoring as the user shifts during sleep," Daryoush Bazargani, a University of Rostock computer science professor explained at a health conference in Germany this week.

So the computer makes the pillow move so the snorer's head moves and the snoring stops. When my husband starts to snore I just give him a nudge (shove?) until he shifts position and the snoring subsides. In theory, this would could let us both sleep peacefully, unless, of course, the pillow makes noise as it shifts the pillow's position. Then there's the concern about having a small computer on all night at the side of the bed. Don't think I'd like that. But then again, the snoring has not reached crisis proportions.

Still, Rostock may be onto something. He said he invented the pillow because he snores and nothing else was working.

An added bonus: The pillow doubles as a neck massager. No word from the Reuters story on when this invention will hit the market, but would you be in line for this tech solution when it does?
