If saving $1.50 or $2 weren't enough, here's another good reason to dial 1-800-FREE411 for free directory assistance on your cell phones and land lines: During October, the company is donating $1 to the National Breast Cancer Coalition for every new caller.
The service also will connect callers to the American Cancer Society, where they will find information on how and where to receive a free mammogram.
Jingle Networks, the Menlo Park, Ca.-based operator of 1-800-FREE411, will donate up to $25,000 from the October Breast Cancer Awareness Month campaign.
Every year, 182,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer. If detected early, the five-year survival rate is higher than 95 percent, according to the National Breast Cancer Coalition. Mammograms are one of the best early detection tools we have, yet 13 million women over the age of 40 have never had one.
So make a free 411 directory assistance call, and help yourself while donating to cancer research.
