Here's a gift idea for Thanksgiving or the holidays: A personalized published cookbook.
AllRecipes.com and SharedBook have joined to offer a Create-a-Cookbook feature that allows you to publish favorite personal and/or AllRecipes.com recipes in a softcover ($24.99) or hardcover ($34.99) book with 20 full-color photo pages.
It's a nice way to pull together favorite recipes for the holidays and share with family members or friends. Or to put recipes you return to every year on dog-eared printouts into a sturdier format.
Of course, this is something you can do via several online publishing and photo book services with your own recipes and photos. The difference is the AllRecipes.com and SharedBook partnership provides access to AllRecipes.com's 40,000 recipes and accompanying images to include in a published book. You can add your own recipes, photos, notes, and stories, too.
A nice feature is that AllRecipes.com members can invite family and friends into their personal publishing space to contribute comments, tips, and photos to the book before it is published. Invited guests can also personalize their own copy to publish. The tools make it easy for members to transfer recipes from their AllRecipes.com online recipe boxes into the publishing templates.
The partnership was announced today, and while I couldn't find anything on AllRecipes.com about the cookbook offer, you can find the press release on SharedBook's web site.
You'll find a similar cookbook publishing partnership between Tastebook and Epicurious.com, which provides access to 25,000 recipes on Epicurious.com. The finished book is $34.95, and the pages can be removed to use during shopping and cooking.
Join in the discussion. Here you'll see the comments in the order they were posted.
