Air travel over the holidays can be an oh-so unjolly part of the festive season. But here's one web tool that can help you take a more active role in making your flight the best it can possibly be: SeatGuru.
Once you've got your airline tickets, SeatGuru helps you determine where the best seats on the plane are and what amenities will be available during your flight. Color-coded seats let you know which are best (green) and worst (red) and which have issues (yellow). Once you determine which plane you are flying on, you can scroll over seats and get brief descriptions that warn of limited recline, poor legroom, and "mis-aligned windows."
You'll be able to find in-seat power port locations, and what in-flight amenties are available: AC power? Internet connection? Video? You'll know before you get on the plane. And before you commit to a seat assignment.
The few minutes it takes to check out SeatGuru before choosing your seat assignment could mean the difference between comfortable and unbearable during holiday flights. Check it out. And if you want to know more about how the site came about, here's an ExecutiveTravel interview with SeatGuru's founder, Matthew Daimler.

I have used Seat Guru regularly since discovering this site just over a year ago. Whilst it doesnt have every seat configuration for evry airline it is pretty close and I have nanaged to bag a few hidden gems of seats especially on some long haul trans atlantic flights. Hats of to the Guru.
