The gang at Yahoo! Tech is packing comfy shoes and making lists of everything we want to check out at CES next week. Top on my list is to find out just how "green" this mega trade show will be this year.
The Consumer Electronics Association has vowed it has taken steps to reduce the carbon footprint of this 1.8 million-square-foot show by investing in renewable energy, reforestation, and energy-efficiency projects to offset 20,000 tons of show-related carbon. There also will be more recycling opportunities. And the words "green" and "energy efficient" appear more than ever among the gargantuan list of attendees and products.
So I'll be looking for products that actually deliver on the promise to reduce energy consumption at home -- a tall order at a show that draws 2,700 exhibitors and 140,000 attendees to see the latest electronics that will make years' past products obsolete and, hopefully, recyclable. On my list:
• Affordable home automatic devices and systems that truly help families cut down on energy use. Control4, for example, has put the focus on energy savings and will unveil ways it is working with electric utility companies to provide usage meters so that homeowners can cut energy usage.
• Effective devices to measure energy use of new electronics and appliances. I'll be checking out the Watts Up electricity meter that determines what a standard 120-volt AC device will cost to run.
• TVs and other home electronics that use less energy than their predecessors, not more. I'll be looking at TVs that claim to save energy without compromising picture quality.
As we adopt more technology at home, finding ways to save energy will become ever more important.

So where's the proof that it's not causing any climate change? I can agree that it's really easy to say that something is causing negative effects, but for another person to turn around and say that it's not, and not have their facts, proof or evidence to back them up is just more ridiculous. Nobody is really making you buy anything, turn the other way, don't watch it, How many times have you watched an Inconvenient truth? If you've watched it at all, tell me what you can prove wrong? All that I've seen in that movie makes sense to me, it's what I learned from elementary through HS science. Much is just opinion, I like the idea of not having to pay so much for one thing or paying a little more just so I know that I haven't added a little more garbage to the landfill down the street, or pumped nasty chemicals into the Puget sound. I guess all that nasty smog in LA, Mexico City and hey even Seattle is just an illusion right? And if it's not, what the heck is it hurting really? It's not ALL about GLOBAL WARMING, it's about reducing waste, saving money, and keeping our home green. If you don't like the hippy green government, get the heck out, nobody is making you stay here. Put up or shut up.
I am sick of hearing about global warming its a farce. All this money wasted and we could be using it to stop illegal imagration.

This is just DUMB! When will people wake up to the bad information they are being fed by the green movement?__________ Despite environmentalists' propaganda, there is plenty of evidence to refute their claims that the globe is warming and that human industrial activity is significantly changing global climate. In fact, more than seventeen thousand American scientists, including geophysicists, climatologists, meteorologists and oceanographers, have signed the Oregon Petition declaring that "There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of . . . greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate."______________When will these dumb carbon footprint blogs end? If you want to save power to save money, great but please don't try and sell me this nonsense about it ruining the earth! Some of us got past elementary level science and know this is a political movement dressed up as science.
