With everything green becoming big business, we're going to see lots of gadgets and products hit the market this year claiming to be more environmentally beneficial than the next. It's tough to wade through it all to know which gadgets are worth our time.

Here's a little help from EcoStreet, a "web directory of eco-friendly and sustainable living." Early in the year, the web site offers its top 10 picks for "2008's most desirable eco-gadgets," leading off with Freeplay Energy's wind-up, solar-powered radio and flash light.

Making the list is Philips' Eco TV, which got a lot of attention at CES for its focus on energy savings. It will be available in March for about $1,500. The flat-panel TV is designed to lower the LCD panel backlight to reduce energy consumption without compromising picture quality.

As for tech products made with recycled and biodegradable materials, there's ...

• Fashionation's recycled speakers. These $15 foldable speakers are made of 100 percent recycled materials, and come in the expected brown but also purple and pink.

• Earthdrive USB. Made of recycled materials, this flash drive is recyclable and some of its sales will go to the American Forest Foundation for planting trees. What's not to like?

• United Pepper webcams and USB hubs. Cute and biodegradable. Not a piece of plastic in sight on these colorful computer accessories.
