Here's the best roundup I've seen on family networking sites that are taking shape on the Web. As CNET reports, a family-networking niche has been growing on the Web since January.
For families looking for a place to connect, share photos, family tree information, family calendars and trip plans, there are suddenly quite a few choices, and more are on the way.
I wrote about a few family and parent networking sites, including Amiglia, Jotspot, and FamilyRoutes, in this post and this one. But here's a list of some other family sites to check out. (Thanks CNET.) Let me know which ones you think your families would like for keeping in touch with each other.
Families.com: An advice and blogging community for parents.
Minti: A free beta site for fostering advice, friendship and community for parents.
Ourstory: Another free beta site with a twist—timeline tools for sharing family happenings, photos and video.
Zamily: A family networking site that launched this month.
Famoodle: A family networking site that also offers family news.
Cingo: Offers news, movie listings, shared calendar and to-do lists.

Hey guys, just a quick note here, my family, not just nuclear but also extended is totally Amiglia addicted. I tried out a few of these over the months and none of them matched it, so here's one huge vote for Amiglia. Interesting and nice to see all this attention on family these days.
I owe an apology to the author of the aforementioned article. In a comment I made earlier, I said that Cingo was not contacted by the author. It turns out that Cingo was, indeed, contacted by the author and I just wasn't notified by our legal department. I offer my most sincere apology.

Greetings, I am the lead architect for Cingo. It was good to see the CNET article, but the reporter made one major oversite in the article. They assumed (I say assumed, because nobody at Cingo was contacted for the article) that all the sites mentioned had no viable business plan other than to charge their users or to sell ads. Cingo has developed a very unique business plan and will do neither of those things. As with all the other sites mentioned, Cingo is constantly developing new functionality and improving the functionality that already exists. As a matter of fact, we're launching a major update early next week. Head over to Cingo and check it out. I'll also note that all the family sites mentioned are slightly different and you'd do well to spend some time on each of them to decide which is a best fit for your own needs. Thanks!
