Christopher Null told us all about how the NeatReceipts Scanalizer (he loves that word) can help us scan and track expenses, and determine which are tax deductible. I need help organizing my business expenses, to be sure. But now that I've heard that a new version available in September will also allow me to scan and organize recipes, invitations, and all kinds of household documents, I'm really interested.

NeatReceipts says the Scanalizer will be able to scan copies of old and new recipes, then organize them into categorized files: Main Courses, Appetizers, Family Dinners.... Using optical-character recognition, the NeatReceipts software will do the same for party invitations and all household bills and receipts.

The USB-compatible, all-in-one portable scanner reads information from receipts, business cards, and documents, and automatically creates digital files that can be saved in spreadsheet form.

I'll be checking out the new version come fall, and I'll let you know what I think.

I purchased a neat receipts scanner last week and feel it's WAY over-priced for what it does. I spent $260.00 and it takes FOREVER for one receipt to scan. The program also won't open on the first try...among many other smaller things that you find with 'less expensive' software. I contacted their tech support only to be told that I didn't have enough 'physical memory' to run this program. So I took my computer in today and spent $150.00 adding the exact amount they suggested AND IT STILL DOESN'T WORK!!!! I wouldn't recommend this product. I thought it would make my business operation so much better as I have so many receipts but you're much better off scanning right off your printer than to buy this.

I have had major issues with installing the scanner on my Vista Ultimate (32 bit) machine. As of today no luck. Customer support at NR is marginal, at best. There seem to be several posts with the same problem, however no solutions are posted. Very frustrating.
