I just finished putting together a photo calendar for an annual family gift, and once again, I came up short of a great photo for every month. Even though every year I vow to take at least one really good photo of the kids each month, together or separately, inevitably I forget, and I find myself scouring for the best of a mediocre photo crop in December.
I think that's why Lifehacker's New Year's recommendation to take a photo every day to improve your photo skills and end up with an interesting look at the year in photos is one that may find its way onto my New Year's resolutions list. The idea originates on Photojojo, which calls it Project 365. As Lifehacker's Adam Pash writes, the aim is to take a photo of something unique each day.
With camera phones improving and digital cameras easy to carry everywhere, it's an achievable goal. Check out the original Photojojo 365 post for more ideas on how to keep it going all year long and where to post photos to build your photo story.
Something to think about as the year comes to a fast end and a new year beckons.

What a great idea! I'm hoping Santa will me a Canon Rebel so I can use that instead of my Sony point & shoot. :)
Thanks for the suggestion of taking photos with the idea of putting them in a calendar at the end of the year. Your comments right now mean I can start right away for January.
Great idea - this way all the seasons will be covered and you won't have a summer beach scene in December -

I love this idea and I'm going to do it!
