Personalize MP3 Tunes for Baby

There are plenty of baby and toddler toys on the market that play music. Just not necessarily the music you would choose if you had a choice.

Playskool has teamed with Creative, the maker of digital music players, to provide more music options for little ones' ears. The toymaker's Made for Me collection of music toys, which will be available in the fall, centers on the Digital Music Player ($79.99). It comes with a player with a handle and an MP3 unit that can be removed and used with all the toys in the line. A soft covering (either a bear, a puppy, or a bunny) has straps that allow the player to be hooked onto a crib. With the accompanying software, parents can shuffle or organize songs in categories.

The other two toys in the line are the Day to Dream Soother and the 2-in-1 Infant Gym. The soother also straps onto the crib to play music and soothing sounds. It has an animated screen and plays a light show, which can be projected on the ceiling. It will retail for about $35. The 2-in-1 gym ($40) can be set up for a baby lying on her back or tummy, and it has a mirror and other motor skills activities you'd expect to find, along with a slot for the MP3 unit and speakers to hear the tunes. All are on display at CES at the Creative booth.

Made for Me is designed for parents who are downloading music and creating playlists all the time and want to share the same approach with their kids from the moment they start listening to music. The price point is right in line with that of other baby and toddler tech toys.
