This should come as little surprise to my husband: A majority of Americans say they spend more time with their computers than their spouses. A survey by Kelton Research also found that 84 percent of us are more dependent on our home computers than we were three years ago.
Lots of nights my husband walks in the door to find me at my computer, but my excuse is I work from home, and with three kids, my work day is not confined to a 9 to 5. While it's not clear whether the 65 percent who say they spend more time with their computers than their significant others are talking about after-work hours only, it's a sign that many of us are spending far more time face to screen rather than face to face.
Now, the Kelton survey was conducted for a tech support company aiming to drum up customers for its computer troubleshooting business. That's why it asked how many times respondents had computer trouble during the last three years (average: eight times) and determined that the average American wastes 12 hours per month on home computer problems. Half of the survey respondents say they end up feeling angry, sad, and/or alienated by PC headaches.
Take a minute to think about it. Are you spending more time on the computer than with your loved ones? Do you notice a big difference in the time spent on home computers now compared with a few years ago?

Understandable, several years ago my wonderful wife on a recommendation started romance novels. Now just about all of her free time is deep in the books of love. I could come home from work and sit along side her staring at the television and talking to myself. But I decided to surf the net and see the world. Yes we get together for conversation during meal time, while driving, shopping, and walking but inside the home it novels and computers.
