Craigsnumber, the service that offers free, automatically expiring, anonymous phone numbers, has made a few changes after its first 50 days.
In response to users' opinions in the beta stage, you can now call Craigsnumber at (415) 234-5678 to get a temporary, anonymous number if you're not online.
Also, if you want the phone number to expire before the one hour, one day, or one week option you choose, it can be done.
When Craigsnumber launched in mid-December, it was only available in San Francisco, Dallas, and Washington, D.C. But it's now available in 16 cities in the United States, and more are on the way. Using a pull-down menu when you click on the question, "Want a number near your area code?" you'll find these other cities and states: Atlanta, Chicago, Boston, Detroit, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New Jersey, New York, Phoenix, Portland, Salt Lake City, and San Diego.
The site also has added a pre-written email note to send to people you want to notify about your temporary number. There's also a podcast by the site's founders, who, like their phone numbers, continue to be anonymous. And they say they continue to be interested in users' opinions. So what do you think so far?
