It's not too late. You've got time to pull it together and come up with the perfect last-minute Valentine's Day gift for your valentine.
Stumped and feeling like the character on NBC's "30 Rock" this week who said, "It's Valentine's Day AGAIN?" Here are some ideas to come through for February's day of togetherness smelling like a ... well, you know. Only one is technically a tech gift, but all of them can be procured quickly through technology. Isn't it grand?
Romantic songs: Download some of your favorite love songs and make a CD for your loved one to listen to in the car on the way to work or download onto his MP3 player to listen to anywhere. If you're one of those couples who actually has "a song," make it number one on the playlist.
Engraved, gift-wrapped iPod: Better yet, if your valentine needs something to play that carefully chosen playlist, you can still order a new iPod shuffle, nano, or video player and have it arrive with a personal engraved message in a nicely wrapped box. Order by Sunday to get the nice free touches, or by Tuesday for overnight shipping without gift wrap or engraving.
Flowers: A can't miss last-minute option. Especially if you know which flowers are her (or his) favorite. Roses may be the obvious choice, but that doesn't mean everyone likes them. Tulips always make me happy, so I zeroed in on this ProFlowers choice of assorted tulips for $39.98. I like that you can choose your vase for a price ranging from free to $20. You will, however, pay double for shipping ($9.98) if you want them delivered on Valentine's Day and not before.
There are other online floral sellers, including 1-800-flowers, but an even better option is to call your local flower shop or one near a far-away loved one and put together something special to be delivered on Valentine's Day.
Chocolate: Of course. You can order as late as Tuesday at 3 p.m. and still get a box of Godiva truffles delivered on time. Check out this beautiful heart box of Lake Champlain Chocolates, a wonderful chocolate maker in Vermont.
Romantic movies: Call up your Netflix queue and plug in your favorite romantic movie to watch while sipping champagne. Need some ideas? Moonstruck, Shakespeare in Love, The Best Years of Our Lives....Or check out these movie deals on Amazon to buy your favorite date movie to have for keeps.
Dinner in: Order in dinner from your favorite restaurant. Especially good for a mid-week Valentine's Day when you can't (or don't' want to) leave the kids home. All you need is a phone and a credit card. In my book, a true mid-week gift is not having to think about dinner for one busy night.
Poetry: Speaking of books, nothing says love better than poetry. Grab a few minutes to duck into a local bookstore (a gift in and of itself) and peruse the poetry shelves you probably haven't looked at in years. Of course, you can do the same online and get overnight delivery.
Say it with photos: Again, it's not too late to put together a thoughtful photo gift that expresses your love in words and images. Most of the online photo sites are offering Valentine's promotions. I like Shutterfly's Valentine's story books you can put together with pictures of each other and your family to tell the story of your love. They're 20 percent off until Feb. 13.
Just a few ideas, and a reminder that lack of time is no excuse for not letting your loved ones know you love them on one mid-winter day and every day.

Ah, yes, that wonderful time of year which obliges one to step back and smell the rose in one's life! My father used to say that every day was Valentine's Day. My mother wasn't buying it and neither does my "rose"! My wife and I used to joke - I told you on our wedding day that I love you. If things change, I'll let you know! - Thank you for the great gift ideas, Dory! We don't have Netflix, but I'm wondering if I can get my neighbor to pinch hit! We'll see! In the mean time, may your day next week come up ... well, like roses!
