Our Xbox 360 finally gave up its last breath last week, and after much moping around, we decided to wait on a rumored black edition. Black edition, you say? I've waited for rumors to be confirmed by a reliable source, and Wired stepped up to the plate with a post about Microsoft's plans to announce the Xbox 360 Elite edition this Wednesday.
This "Elite" edition will feature 120GB hard drive and an HDMI output/cable that will finally enable it to play high-definition video. It seems this would be next logical upgrade for the Xbox 360 after the release of the Playstation 3. The coming of the Elite Xbox 360 has been spreading rampantly over several blogs along with magazine spreads, video of the Elite systems on the production line, and even spotted promotional posters of the Elite Xbox 360. Despite the addition of a larger hard drive, and HDMI, it seem Microsoft forgot to include an integrated HD-DVD player, but I guess that would only drive up the cost.
Could this be an April Fools joke, or the real thing? Stay tuned. Guess we'll soon find out what Microsoft will be announcing this week, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Price of the Elite is rumored to be $479.
Will you be getting one?
