HANNSpree is one of the few companies that really makes their LCD displays stand out among the crowd thanks to the casing alone. You might remember their children's LCD collection (which Dory partially covered on this post) that include the uber-expensive 42" LCD encased in a fire engine truck design. But at a $15,000 to $20,000 price tag, they're not expecting just anyone to run out to get one.
The company has always focused on creating unique displays that blend in with one's contemporary decor. It may've seemed excessive at times, but now that more consumers are adding flat-panel displays to every room in their house, I believe manufacturers will start producing swankier LCD displays to attract buyers. A handful of displays currently in the market like the Sony's Bravia, TAV-L1, and Phillips Ambilight always draw most of the attention in stores.
The latest HANNSvibe Widescreen 32-inch LCD is a testament of where LCD design is heading. The black and white WXGA LCD is HDTV compatible, has a 1366 x768 resolution, and has two detachable 24 watt speakers placed right below the screen. The $1,500 price seems reasonable compared to the 42-inch LCD mentioned above.
