Fujitsu Ten's "Dual Display" GPS

Technology has spoiled me. Incredibly. To the point of hating to print out directions to get to places. My car currently has an integrated, voice activated GPS system that I absolutely love.

But we recently purchased a second car without all the bells and whistles, and going back to printing out directions was a bit frustrating, especially when the directions are not clear enough and often confusing.

So after shopping around for a navigation system that integrates with satellite radio and plays DVDs, I came upon the Fujitsu Ten AVN7905HD. It's Japanese, but if it were fully functional in the U.S., I would not hesitate to get one.

While at CES this year, I came upon the two-way viewing angle LCD monitors that allows the passenger to watch a DVD, while the driver can view the GPS screen for directions. A Sharp representative mentioned that this type of technology would be available at the end of this year right here in the States.

Since this technology is already available in Japan, it appears some GPS systems, like the AVN7905HD already come with these two-way viewing angle LCDs, 30GB hard drives that can store around 2,300 songs, Memory Stick slots, TV tuners, as well as 3D navigation, which looks like you're driving in a video game.

I'm hoping we see this new technology soon, but I won't be surprised if it's actually available a few years from now.

Great, but who wants to pay $2500+ for a car accessory?

I have had my pioneer avic-n1 for a few years and 3 cars now. It's an absolute must-have in my cars like leather and sunroofs. they are pricey toys but the aftermarket units have the benefit of being transferable and upgradeable. I drive about 50,000 miles a year and it's the best $2,500 spent.
