Color or no color? That remains the question. Personalizing your gear can't hurt in a time when laptop theft runs rampant. But will you ever grow tired of the same motley uniform? Probably not, since I don't know many people who stare at the back of their laptops all day. Nevertheless, I have a weakness for laptops with vibrant designs that stand out from the crowd. Nothing like a laptop that turns everyone's head.

Sony's Graphic Splash Editions have gotten plenty of mentions here thanks to their penchant for reinventing their Graphic Splash series. Last time we saw the FJ, AR, and C Series dipped in beautiful patterns that attracted me like a bee to honey. Maybe the sky is still gloomy over Sony headquarters or it was just time for an austere makeover, but the latest additions to the Graphic Splash Series are anything but cheerful. I expected some pastels, as is traditional during this season, but the colors are a bit darker compared to previous collections.

Charcoal Blossom, Brown/Turquoise Dot, Black/White Dot, and Weathered Blue patterns round out the new FE series equipped with Intel Core 2 Duo, Vista, 15.4-inch displays, built-in webcam, dual-layer DVD player, 2GB RAM, and over 120GB of storage. To keep it exclusive, only 1,350 of these will be released so act fast if you want to get your hands on one. Oh, and if you like the Weathered Blue or Charcoal Blossom editions, you might want to act before April 17 when they'll be gladly replaced by Weathered Red and Pink Blossom.

I love the colored VAIOs, especially pink! I don't yet own a laptop, but these make me really want one!

I had a sony viao a couple of years ago, it was the worst piece of crap I ever overpaid $1,800 for. You might as well buy a colored one, since you'll be looking at the closed computer quite a lot! In all seriousness, sony needs to put more money into quality parts and less into cheap gadgets. Anyone can personalize a computer with stickers, contac paper, or fabric and glue and I write this from my Dell Inspiron laptop, which is a heck of a machine. Avoiud vaios like the plague they are.
