Easter Sunday is near, prompting us to highlight the ways technology has finally infiltrated thy hallowed holiday. Jennifer De Leo, over at PC Mag, compiled a slideshow of ten of the oddest egg-shaped tech gadgets to humor us this Easter. I never realized just how may egg-shaped gadgets are out there. I don't know much about product design, but what would elicit gadget designers to create items in
such a difficult shape? Is there an actual purpose besides the omission of sharp edges? Anyone?
Some of the gadgets mentioned are actually pretty cool, like the Segatoys HomeStar Pure Home Planetarium, the modPod chair with speakers, and the Grobag thermometer that changes color according to the room temperature. The worst part is, only one of them has anything to do with food. I thought I'd add a few more gadgets to this amusing list:

These days designers have access to tools such as CADCAM to easily create designs that can actually be built. Given that, some of them choose designs that are too busy (Ex: Dodge Nitro), some choose simple shapes like these egg shapes, and some are just boring. BTW how about including the VW Beetle - it's almost egg shaped ... Cheers
