Geek Squad Techie a Peeping Tom?

This is a woman's worst nightmare realized. A computer technician employed by Best Buy's Geek Squad is now facing criminal charges after getting caught red handed using a cellphone to videotape a 22-year old woman in the shower.

The technician was hired to do some work in the woman's house, and asked to use the bathroom before the she hopped in the shower. What she didn't realize was that Hao Kuo Chi was cleverly positioning his cellphone behind the sink, allegedly to capture footage of her showering. Fortunately, the woman's sister noticed the phone's red blinking light, removed the phone's chip, and took it to a nearby Verizon store to view its contents. After their worst suspicions were confirmed, the 22-year old says she felt embarrassed and dirty. If these allegations turn out to be true, it's a good thing she discovered the cellphone before images of her in the shower appeared on the Internet. Makes you wonder how many times this guy may have done this. You can watch video of the report here.

This isn't the first time technicians have violated a customer's trust. Consumerist has a few tales of Comcast workers found sleeping on the job (on the customer's bed no less), but most recently a man was caught pretending he was a Comcast supervisor.

It's scary out there, so the next time you have technicians coming into your house, make sure you're not alone, and always ask them for identification. I wonder if Geek Squad will start issuing camera-less cellphones to techs after this incident. It'd actually be a good idea.
