Our moms have different personalities, therefore they each approach technology in different ways. As a tech lover, nothing would please us more than to give mom something that could really make her life easier, and what child wouldn't want the best for mom? Whether mom loves tech or not, there are ways you can make her day. Check out these nifty ideas for (almost) every type of mother:
New moms depend on alarm clocks the first few months after the baby is born. Clocky is a sure way to help her wake up on time every morning. The fun alarm clock rolls off the nightstand, then looks for a place to hide, while sounding the alarm the entire time. Mom will either love it or hate it, but she won't deny how handy it can be at times.
Working Mom
Working moms need a good massage. She probably spends a lot of time staring at her computer, which is a sure way of getting a bad case of tech neck. Find out if any local spas offer special massages to relieve her tech neck, Blackberry thumb, or other overworked areas that have her cramped up. Lucky for New Yorkers, some spas in the area already offer cell phone facials! If you're on a budget, then volunteer to give her a hand and neck massage yourself. She'll love you for it!
Music Loving Mom
Moms love to jam out too. If mom is still sporting a vintage Sony Walkman cassette player, well, maybe it's time to introduce her to the digital age with a music player that matches her personality. Does she like to listen to a morning show on FM radio? Then check out the 30GB Pink Zune or a more affordable 2GB Sansa C250, which also stores photos. If mom really wants an iPod mini, then head out to Best Buy for a wrapped-up iPod package just for Mother's Day.
Shutterbug Mom
Infiltrate her picture collection, and grab some of those classic photos of the whole family to create a photobook for her. If you have free time, volunteer yourself to back up her photo collection, maybe even archive it on CD. Point her to free photography classes online so she can hone her skills. Those of you feeling extra generous may want to consider the super cool wireless Sony DSC-G1 camera. Mom will love sending her photos straight to her computer without wasting time connecting to it.
Chatty Mom
If mom likes to talk, then introduce her to Skype. For Mother's Day, they're running a special promotion for users that gives them 200 minutes they can use to SkypeOut. Mom can use her Gift of Gab to call friends and family on their cell phone or landline, and feel guilt-free all day long.
Trendy Mom
Trendy moms should have the latest tech accessories, which is why she definitely needs a digital photo wallet to show off those pictures of her last cruise. If she's into designer labels, give her a Betsey Johnson laptop sleeve to keep her laptop protected, or if she's looking for a new laptop, ask Dad to pitch in so you can both get her a to die for Graphic Splash Sony VAIO. You know what? You better believe she deserves it.
Sporty Mom
Active moms sometimes need a little motivation. If she has an iPod nano, this might be a good time to turn her on to the Nike + iPod Sports kit, so she can track her progress. This also gives her access to Nikeplus.com, where she can create challenges for herself, or challenge other sporty moms. Sony Ericsson's new W580 Walkman phone is also a perfect gift for any athlete mom. This phone has a music player, and built-in pedometer so she can talk and track her steps all she wants.
Not-So-Techie Mom
Before shopping for your not-so-techie mom, you should read these tips. The trick is to slowly convert her as opposed to handing her a smartphone that's going to leave her frustrated at the end of the day. Sony's new Cybershot digital cameras are available in cool pastel colors, and they're easy to use. Digital photo frames are always a big hit with any parent. And lastly, if she's still recording her favorite shows on video tapes, well I can't think of a better way to capture her interest in tech, than with a TiVo Series 2.

What I really would like to see is a gift for a Mom that didn't do a good job, and that you are only getting for her out of a sense of duty. I can't even find a good card, unless it is blank inside.
